About
I am Tamsin Twiss, a registered Psychometrist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Independent Practice, based in Southern Suburbs, Cape Town. I graduated from the University of South Africa with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2018 and subsequently completed my Honours Degree through SACAP in 2019.
I worked within the field of psychology as a counselling intern at the Trauma Clinic in Cape Town, where I gained experience counselling adolescents at inner-city schools who faced various life difficulties. In 2021, I continued my education by pursuing my BPsych Equivalence in Psychometrics at Stellenbosch University. I completed my internship through the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), working with children from vulnerable socio-economic backgrounds, as well as in private practice, gaining experience within the educational space through psycho-educational services, accommodation, career guidance, and corporate assessments.
I registered with the HPCSA as an independent practitioner in 2022 and have since worked with children, adolescents and young adults in various capacities. I have worked in the private sector in collaboration with educational psychologists, gaining further experience with psycho-educational assessments related to learning barriers, as well as medico-legal psycho-educational assessments.
Within my private practice, my focus remains in the psycho-educational space, specifically assessing cognitive and/or scholastic strengths and weaknesses, learning barriers, accommodations, subject choice, and career guidance, as well as EQ skill development. I have a passion for child and adolescent mental health and strive to create a safe, neuro-affirming assessment space. My practice is also a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals.
